Let's Be Honest...

The United States dodged a bullet on November 4th, 2008. For the conservative excuse makers, no, it was not because she was a woman. This country would elect a woman (vice) president. And no, it was not because she was a republican. We have and will again elect republicans. Get this straight...it was because she was a stupid idiot. An ignorant slob. An incurious moron. A self-serving and evil opportunist. A fear-mongering dunce with nothing to offer. A clownish rube with dark intent.
Make no mistake about it, the United States was in serious danger with Sarah Palin and John McCain in the running and now that they have been sent packing by an overwhelming majority of Americans the world is a much better place.

Here's to never having to hear her harsh, lying voice ever again...

My candidate, John Edwards, Endorses Obama.

John Edwards' speech today as he endorsed Barack Obama reminded me why he was and is my main choice as candidate for President. He is a class act. I hope he gets a good place in the Obama cabinet and runs again in eight years.

Yo Hillary!!!
She's singing, Hillary!

Update after the fact.

Well, John Edwards had an affair and a child out of wedlock. Am I disappointed? I am only disappointed that he felt he had to step down and bow out of public activism. His private challenges are none of my business and I do not consider them a failing. Rather, I consider our society a failure. John Edwards has done a lot of good in the world and has a lot more to offer. If only we lived in a society like most other civilized countries in the world where he would be given the opportunity. Do I feel nothing for his wife? Of course not. I feel for her and I know the pain of spousal infidelity but...so what? Relationships are complicated and sometimes painful. No guarantees. Like the wise man said.."What are relationships for? A while." We need John Edwars and others like him now more than ever. I am sorry he has to hide out in shame.

Militant Clintonistas wind down. Sore losers.

Well, the militant Clintonistas are out of material now.
Now? Hell, they have been out of material for some time now.

Originally, I asked them why I should vote for Clinton when:
A: She was wrong on supporting Bush's illegal invasion. I was one of the several millions protesting in the street before the invasion. We all knew it was wrong, why didn't she? Why didn't she and other members of the Senate heed us and stop this madness before it started??

B: She was a supporter of NAFTA. Another "No one could have predicted those results?" moment. Except we did predict those results. Anyone who has taken American History 101 could have seen that NAFTA and related trade policies would be a disaster for the American workers and for American manufacturing.

C: She recently arrogantly blatted that she would obliterate Iran. More
cowboy "diplomacy". Strutting, bragging and threatening.

The Clintonistas response to these questions was something along the lines of "Oh look at the misogynistic white male. Must have a small penis" etc...etc...

Their latest is this Bingo Card. If you consider any of these to be true, you are an "Obamabbot", see?

Like, if you are perfectly willing to vote for a woman, but not willing to ignore the fact that Hillary is a rotten candidate and you would not vote for her...
Or if you mention that she was wrong on the war...
Or if you don't like the sneaky, dishonest way the Clintons are trying to change the rules in Florida and Michigan now that things aren't going their way...

and so on...

Lunch time, Ed!

Well, as an Obama supporter I am disappointed that top rated radio show host Ed "The Coach" Schultz called it wrong for Obama in Pennsylvania. I wanted Obama to take it.
Still, Obama made a good showing and is still way ahead in delegates and in popular vote in big states like my state (Washington) and Texas.

Now then, Coach, time to make good. Lunch is on us.
Enjoy the crow.

The Age of Fear : Mike Papantonio of GoLeft TV and Ring of Fire

The Best Political Speech in Forty Years.

As I have said all along, I was a John Edwards supporter. When he dropped out of the race, I was annoyed, feeling that we were left with two status quo democrats in Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. I do not see a whole lot of difference in their policies, and neither is unequivocally in favor of a universal, single payer health care system for all.

So, I was supporting Barack Obama as the somewhat least worse of the two.
But after this speech, I am a whole hearted supporter of Obama. My views on his policies has not changed, but what I found encouraging was the level of awareness he showed in this speech. I am tired of politicians who are so far removed from the people who pay their salaries that they do not understand the lives of the people who hired them.

Barack Obama is aware of the people and their lives. What he will do with that awareness I cannot predict, but he has it. Bush does not. Clinton does not.
